Child labour is just a sin or a curse. All over the world in almost 100 countries World day against child labour is observed on June 12. International Labour Organisation (ILO) issued holiday to promote awareness and to eradicate child labour. As per survey conducted by ILO about 152 million children world wide are engaged in child labour and about 72 millions are in dangerous and dirty jobs. Just to earn their livelihood they were forced to work in mines and factories and as slaves.
Every child has right to feel safety and secure and they should be given proper education. For every children, childhood should be a time to grow, better. we need to understand difference between child work, child labour, child slavery.
The theme for this year is world day against child labour mainly focuses on protection of children from child labour amid covid -19.
What is child labour?
- Which is physically, mentally, socially and ethically very dangerous and harmful to children.
- Activities which interfere and prohibits the children to go to school.
- Which makes children potentially weak and dignity to down.
History of child labour:
We can see child labour in India from ages past. The practice of purchasing children of less than 8 yrs were existed in India in ages past.earlier. Children were just treated as a product and were bought and sold. Later on they were engaged in agriculture and grazing of animals. Then in medieval age children were used to help in their economic activities, which is still in practice.

Children are future citizens of tomorrow and every children has right to get education to shape their minds in future. They need to enjoy childhood with out worry.
